Our chemical pathology department is graced with numerous modern equipment for assessing Renal function test, liver function test, Cardiac profile, metabolic testing, Bone markers, Lipid profile, Diabetic profile, Tumour markers, Thyroid function test, Anaemia Profile, Urine test, Toxicology studies, Blood drug mornitoring and other routine blood analytes for optimum patient care.

Our Anatomic Pathology department is staffed with dedicated  pathologists, scientist, and technologists that are patient oriented with perquisites knowledge to render advance pathology practice with a goal to  deliver accurate clinical diagnosis on body fluids and tissue samples using  modern laboratory equipment combine with scientific knowledge for a clinical guide to patient management.

This department is empowered by modern cryostat equipment for rapid intraoperative diagnosis and frozen sections, Advanced automatic tissue processor, embedding machine, rotatory microtome, automatic slide staining machine, water bath, oven and other necessary equipment for  routine histopathologic studies and Histochemical studies.

We are also prepared to render tissue immunohistochemistry studies, Fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH), RT-PCR, Molecular testing,  Tissue genetic studies, DNA analysis and sequencing, molecular profiling and Epigenetic studies and immunofluorescence for Targeted and immunotherapy.

We engage in Digital imaging studies, Teleconferencing, Pathology workshops, Research, Trainings and Second opinions and in the near future, the services of artificial intelligence in slide reports and diagnostics shall be employed.Our mortuary department renders  top- notch mortuary and funeral services and we have in  stock, modern deep freezer mortuary cabinets and modern autopsy tables for postmortem pathology studies and exterminations.

The Medical Microbiology department is segmented into specialised units that carry out various specialised microbiological diagnostics to meet the dynamics patient dialy needs. We have bacteriology and infectious disease unit that engages in body fluid and tissue culture, mycobacterium testing , bacterial identification and antibiotics sensitivity and subceptibility testing. Other units include; Parasitology unit, Mycology unit and virology and STDs unit respectively.

We carry out serology and immunology testing, Parasitology testing, special Histochemical stains, Gene experts, PCR and molecular testing, Seminal fluid extermination and analysis, sepsis workup, antibiotics and antimicrobial subceptibility and sensitivity testing with CLSI standard and viral serology testing, stool testing and other routine microbiological laboratory tests.

Our turn around time (TAT) is designed to meet a timely patient need with our biosafety level 3 laboratory that take into cognisance the safety of our laboratory personnels. Our Microbiology department also engage in in-patient and outpatient management of cases of sepsis, multi-resistant bacteriological strains of organisms, infectious diseases, ICU and critical care management of septic patients, and in conjunction with internal physicians manages HIV cases, TB and other viral and infectious diseases. We are a leading department in the management and containment of viral haemorrhagic fevers, viral diseases outbreaks and we maintain safety in sample collection, testing and diagnosis with timely clinical advise in patient management based on subceptibility testing. We organise hospital infection control board and manages the general hospital infection control to maintain a germ free environment.

Our Haematology department is one of the highly specialised department of pathology where we engage in clinical diagnosis by exermining blood and blood related tissues with the aid of modern laboratory equipment in conjunction with professional medical knowledge. This department engages in the production of blood and blood products as well as it's administration to treat patients with various blood and blood related tissue disorders and Malignancies. We carry out bone marrow biopsy, aspiration and assay, complete blood count, coagulation factors  assays, Erythrocytes sedimentation, G6PD screening and assays, Hemoglobin Electrophoresis and genotyping, osmotic fragility testing, Hemoglobinopathies analysis, Neutrophils alkaline phosphatase ( NAP) score, PCR, molecular hematology for thalassemias and other genetic diseases, immunoassays, Diagnosis of blood malignant disorders along side with all other routine haematologic blood analysis, second opinions and inter professional consultations and multidisciplinary serminars.

Other than diagnostics, Our hematology department also engages in in-patient admissions and complete care for blood Malignancies and patients with Hemoglobinopathies as well as  other blood related disorders.We run specialised hematology clinic where we do clinical care and out patient care for our patients and in conjunction with oncology department offer chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy for blood Malignancies.

We run a modern blood bank that helps to provide blood and blood products for our in- patients and we also engage in blood donation sensitization on international blood donor's days. This Teaching Hospital enjoys the services of Cytopathologists who work in the cytopathology unit of Anatomic Pathology department. We engage in weekly cytology and Papanicolaou (Pap) smear clinic where adequate scientific and pathologic extermination of body fluids,  exfoliative cells and cervical  Pap smears are carried out for the purpose of screening for Malignant, premalignant or benign medical conditions. We also run a one-stop breast clinic, Thyroid clinic and solid and cystic   palpable surface cutaneous Tumours where we  carry-out Fine needle aspiration cytology and biopsies for routine cytological studies, special stains  and immunohistochemical studies for the purpose of screening and diagnosis.We have All it takes to carry out HPV testing and genotype, immunohistochemistry and cytogentic on these  cytology samples for effective patient management. Plans are underway to Introduce Flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry and Fluorescence in-situ hybridization ( FISH) on cytology samples  in the nearest future.

Infectious disease clinic

We run a weekly infection disease clinic where our infectious disease specialists in medical Microbiology and internal medicine take optimum care for our infectious disease patients.

Infectious diseases are illnesses caused by harmful pathogenic organisms,most commonly are virus, fungi, bacterial and parasites and can be spread from person to person through contaminations and bites.
