David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital is now one of the approved institutions for Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) internship programme.

The approval was contained in a letter to the hospital on the outcome of the Resource Verification visit of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) to DUFUTH to assess its Medical and Laboratory Services Department.

The letter addressed to the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Uzoma Agwu dated 8th July, 2024 and signed by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Professor Tosan Erhabor further detailed that an initial intake quota of 40 students per annum has been granted by the regulatory body.

Recall that the accreditation team of the council was at David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Uburu from 5th to 7th March 2024.

The feat is coming barely two years of inception of the hospital.
