David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital Uburu, will enroll her staff into the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust fund in no distant time.

The Chief Medical Director of DUFUTH, Prof. Uzoma Agwu gave this assurance in her office while interfacing with a team from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Abakaliki branch.

The CMD reiterated her commitment to making the staff welfare a priority.

She directed that the scheme should be included in the 2024 budget of the hospital and also advised NSITF to post a desk officer to DUFUTH.

The Team Leader, Mrs. Eke Georgina and her group x-rayed the vision, mission, objectives, importance and method of operation of the scheme.

Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund is a Federal Government Agency, established under Employees' Compensation Act (2010).

The Agency is mandated by Law to implement the compensation scheme which provides for compensation to employees in the event of death, injury, disability or disease arising out of or in the course of employment; and for related matters.

The scheme is compulsory for all members of staff.

The employers will be responsible for the funding on behalf of the employees, which is one percent (1%) of the total emolument of a staff monthly.

The team was received by the Chief Medical Director, alongside other top management staff.
