COPORATE SERVICE DEPARTMENT

The David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital on Tuesday commemorated World Patient Safety Day.

Declaring the event open, the Chief Medical Director, Prof Uzoma Agwu, noted that DUFUTH operates a Patient centred care system and was working hard to dismantle any systematic discomfort to ensure patient satisfaction.

She reiterated the value and importance DUFUTH places on patient safety and appreciated them for choosing the hospital as care provider.

She further stressed that the hospital was built to serve patients at all cost, hence they should feel free to always report anything bothering them to the Patients Safety Desk Officers who will in turn bring it to the attention of the hospital management for accelerated resolution.

In response to concerns raised by some patients: Mr Chukwu Nweze and Mrs Ekuma Janet, Prof. Agwu promised that the NHIA patient desk office will soon be in operation while the issue of patients moving from point to point will be drastically reduced with full restoration of public power supply to the hospital soon.

The C-MAC Dr Felix Ehidiamhen who spoke in "pidgin" encouraged the patients to know their rights and be well treated at all times.

Also in attendance was the D-CMAC Clinicals, Dr Saviour Obilo, the HNS Mrs Urom Anyhonia, HRM Mr Okoro Chima Kalu, the HFA, amongst others.

The event was packaged by the office of the D-CMAC RESEARCH AND ETHICS under Dr Ugorji Darlington.
